Sunward Savings Laboratory

For Kids Ages 3 through 12

The Sunward Savings Laboratory is a fun way to get kids excited about saving. Learn about setting and reaching savings goals with the help of Doctor Dollar, Professor Cash, and Sandy the Lab. Young members ages 3 through 12 can watch their savings grow as they work toward earning prizes. The program is open to Sunward's young members with their own primary savings account (custodial accounts are not eligible).

HERE’S HOW TO GET STARTED:

Stop by any branch or call 505.293.0500 or 800.947.5328 to request a Savings Laboratory notebook.

Make a deposit to receive a sticker. Kids earn one sticker for their Savings Laboratory notebook when they deposit $5 or more into their primary savings account. Members can collect one sticker per day, with a maximum of four stickers per month per account. Kids opening their first Sunward account receive a bonus sticker to help jumpstart their savings. If you are not able to get a sticker at the time of the transaction, Sunward will only provide stickers for transactions made within the last three months.

Redeem notebooks with 10 or 20 stickers at any Sunward branch. Child must be present in order to redeem their notebook for a prize. As of November 1, 2021, only “new” purple notebooks can be redeemed at Sunward branches.

After collecting 10 stickers, kids can choose to redeem them for one of the following prizes:

Or kids can wait, collect 20 stickers, and redeem them all for one of the following, bigger prizes:

Sunward also has additional tools and resources to help teach kids about money. Read articles on topics like allowance and budgeting, and learn how to help your kids save $1,000 by the age of 18.
