Learn more about the Animas account consolidation for business members.
Animas accounts moved into Sunward's transactional system starting on the evening of Thursday, June 30 through Friday, July 1, 2022.
We are here to help.
Yes – downtime occurred on Friday, July 1, 2022 while Animas accounts were moved into Sunward’s system. The Animas online banking system went permanently offline on June 30, 2022 at 4:00 p.m. MT.
Debit cards: Your new Sunward debit card (mailed in mid-June) can be activated and used now. To activate it, call the number provided with the new card. If you do not receive your new debit card, please contact us. Your old Animas debit card can no longer be used.
Credit cards: Animas credit cards will continue to work until they are replaced with an Sunward credit card in August 2022. Information about this change was mailed to card-holding members.
Direct deposits: Direct deposits (such as paychecks and Social Security checks) and other electronic payments will continue to operate as scheduled with no action required on your part.
Automatic deposits and payments scheduled to post on Friday, July 1 were posted in Sunward’s transactional system on Saturday, July 2. Automatic deposits and payments scheduled to post on or before Thursday, June 30 were posted normally.
Yes. Keeping your information secure and private is our top priority. The system consolidation process did not compromise the safety of your accounts, funds, or information.
Yes. A packet containing this information was mailed to Animas members in late May.
Yes. Your accounts use a new Sunward membership and primary account number. Members were mailed a letter containing their new numbers in early June. If you did not receive this mailing, please let us know.
Your new number is the same as your Animas number, with an added prefix of “22” and zeroes as needed to reach a total of 10 digits. For example, if your Animas number is 123456, your new Sunward number will be 2200123456.
Your full Sunward membership and primary account number, including the leading "22" and zeroes, are required to enroll in Sunward online and mobile banking.
Please note that your Sunward membership and primary account number is not the number that should be used when setting up new direct deposits or automatic payments. For automatic deposits and withdrawals, your Sunward account will be assigned a “direct deposit and automatic withdrawal number” that must be used in combination with the Sunward routing number (307083911). This number can be found by logging into Sunward online banking, selecting Accounts, selecting the desired checking account, and viewing the Account Details. If you order new Sunward checks, the number on the bottom of your checks will match the "direct deposit and automatic withdrawal number" that displays in Sunward online banking.
All of your accounts are now stored in Sunward’s transactional system. Once you have enrolled in Sunward’s online banking system (on 7/2 or later), you will see all of your accounts there.
Both primary and joint owners have the ability to transact on their jointly owned accounts. Sunward’s online and mobile banking takes a “person-centric” view of accounts. This means primary and joint owners can each view and transact upon their shared accounts using their own individual logins. Only primary account owners can view monthly account statements in Sunward online banking. Sunward makes a distinction between Joint Owners and Authorized Signers with respect to online banking access. Please contact Sunward at 505.293.0500 for more information.
If you wish to review the ownership structure of an account (for which you are the primary owner) and potentially open an alternative account, please contact us.
Sunward statements are sent by mail at the beginning of each month. Members who have enrolled in eStatements and eNotices will be sent an email notification that their statement is ready to view securely in online banking. Generally, eStatements are available a few days before printed statements are mailed.
Credit card, CreditLines, Home Equity CreditLines, business loan, and mortgage statements are sent separately.
No. June month-end statements were mailed in early July. Going forward, you will receive monthly statements from Sunward.
Yes. Statement history for May 2020 onward is available in Sunward’s online banking system. You can opt into eStatements and eNotices to stop paper mailings.
No change to branch availability is planned at this time.
You can transact on your accounts at any Sunward branch. Visit gosunward.org/Locations for location details.

Your Animas debit card stopped working after June 30, 2022. Please cut it up and dispose of it for extra security. New Sunward debit cards, mailed in mid-June, can now be activated and used.
Call the number on the sticker affixed to your new Sunward debit card to begin the activation process. For quick and easy activation, make the call from the primary phone number on record for your Animas accounts. If you activate your card from a different phone, a representative will verify your identity.
If you are having trouble trying to activate your new Sunward debit card using the phone number on the activation sticker, please call 800.466.0040 to proceed.
You can choose a 4-digit personal identification number (PIN) for your new debit card when you call to activate your card, or use the PIN that was sent to you in a separate mailing. If you set your PIN when activating your card on the phone, disregard the PIN in the mailer you received. Remember: Never carry your PIN with your card or share it with another person.
After activating your new card, if any charges were being automatically billed to your Animas debit card, please notify those companies of your new Sunward debit card number. To do so, call each billing company’s customer service number or visit their websites to update your card information.
If you have not received your new Sunward debit card, please contact Sunward at 505.293.0500 or toll-free at 800.947.5328, or stop by a branch.
You may continue to use your current checks after system consolidation. You do not need to order checks with the new routing number until you are running low on your current checks. Order new checks in Sunward online banking, by calling us, or by visiting any Sunward branch. IMPORTANT: You must use Sunward’s routing number in combination with your Sunward automatic withdrawal and direct deposit number when ordering new checks.

IMPORTANT: You must use Sunward’s routing number in combination with your Sunward account number when ordering new checks.
Sunward members may opt to use a substitute number on checks rather than their account number. The alternate number is issued upon request and may be used for automatic withdrawals and direct deposits. This approach hides the true account number in the event a checkbook is lost. The routing number on Sunward checks is different than the routing number on Animas checks.
Your Animas business checking account funds will move to an Sunward Access Business checking account, which offers unlimited Online BillPayer transactions. We also offer Basic Business and Active Business checking account types. Visit gosunward.org/BusinessChecking for more information, and contact us if you want to make a change.
Business members with a sweep from a revolving line of credit will still have access to the line.
Yes. Sunward’s Courtesy Pay Program is available to business checking accounts and provides for the discretionary clearing/processing of member transactions presented against insufficient balances in eligible checking accounts up to an assigned limit. Courtesy Pay is distinct from overdraft transfer services in which members can elect to have funds transferred from other accounts and lines of credit to cover transactions presented against insufficient checking account balances. In addition, Courtesy Pay Plus covers non-recurring, one-time debit card purchases for members who opt-in and sign the Courtesy Pay disclosure.
Members who prefer to have items presented against insufficient funds returned instead of paid may opt-out of the Courtesy Pay program; however, the applicable insufficient funds fees will still be assessed.
Electronic deposits that were set up for your Animas account will continue to work after system consolidation with no action required on your part. Delays are not expected.
No. You do not need to alert them to any changes.
