How do I update my auto withdrawal / direct deposit information? —
Inform your employer and any entities making auto withdrawals / direct deposits to update your details with your new routing number (307083911) and auto withdrawal / direct deposit number (Located with your new Sunward account numbers. Mailed to members late February 2025).

General Information +
When will my Mountain America Credit Union accounts move to the Sunward's account system? —
Your accounts will transfer to Sunward after the close of business on February 28, 2025. Starting the weekend of March 1, 2025, you’ll officially be a Sunward member, and your accounts will be ready to use.
We are doing all we can to ensure the transition from Mountain America to Sunward is as smooth and easy as possible. However, it is possible that there will be some disruption during the weekend of transition. We will keep you informed nearer the time. Please be assured that we want to give you the best service and experience possible and are working hard with Mountain America to make this happen.
Do I need to update my direct deposit(s) from my employer or my government benefits and auto withdrawals? +
Yes, you need to contact your employer/relevant entity and update your payroll's direct deposit and any other direct deposits you receive. If you have auto withdrawals from your account, you need to update those payments with your new routing number (307083911) and account number. The new account number will accept transactions beginning March 1, 2025. It’s important you update your payroll and other automated transactions as soon as possible.
What is my new Sunward account number? And when will I receive this information? +
What happens to account transactions after my Mountain America account closes? +
Through April 28, 2025, Mountain America Credit Union will process your incoming ACH and check transactions they receive and send the transactions to Sunward to post to your account. During this interim period, it is important for you to update your employer and your other depositors with the new routing number (307083911) and your account number. You will need to stop using Mountain America Credit Union checks and start using Sunward checks as of March 1, 2025. We will send you a few free checks to get you started when we send you your welcome packet at the end of February. We will also include a coupon for you to order a box of checks for free during the first 90 days when you become a Sunward member. Your Mountain America credit and debit cards will also stop working as of March 1 and you will need to use your Sunward cards after March 1, see more on this in the credit and debit card section below. Accessing Your Accounts +
Will my account number(s) change? —
Yes. You will get new account numbers for your converted Mountain America accounts. Your new account numbers will be mailed to you mid-February. You will need to provide your new account number and Sunward’s routing number (307083911) to update payment instructions with any direct deposit providers that send money to your account, for example an employer.
You will also need to update regular payments you make to other accounts as well, such as to an outside student loan or for an online subscription. Go to the “Loans and Mortgages” section of the FAQs to learn more about how your loans are affected.
How can I access my accounts after the transfer to Sunward? +
You will be able to access your accounts via the Sunward online banking system, the Sunward mobile banking app, by calling our Contact Center at (505) 559-2024, or at any Sunward branch. For all account information through February 28, please contact the Mountain America service center at 800-748-4302 and ask for information regarding your account prior to the transition to Sunward. For account information and statements starting March 1, please contact Sunward.
Will my new accounts be added to my current Sunward accounts? +
If you are currently a member of Sunward and Mountain America Credit Union, you will receive a separate member number for your converted Mountain America account. However, you will be able to view both your original Sunward accounts and your converted Mountain America accounts in your online banking profile.
You can combine these accounts after March 1, 2025. Call our Contact Center at (505) 559-2024 or stop by any Sunward branch to get started.
How and when can I enroll in the Sunward online banking system? +
If you are already enrolled in Mountain America Credit Union online banking, you will automatically be enrolled into Sunward online banking. You will be able to access your accounts in the Sunward online banking and mobile app starting March 2, 2025.
If you are not already enrolled in online banking at Mountain America, you will be able to enroll in Sunward online banking starting March 2, 2025 at gosunward.org or by using the Sunward mobile app.
Where can I find Sunward’s mobile banking app? +

Account Terms & Fees +
Will my account terms, fees, or interest rates change? —
Mountain America and Sunward offer similar rates and fees, so changes should be minimal. Sunward will honor current rates and payment terms for any loans. We will also honor current rates and terms for all Term Certificates.
For other products, members will be placed into our nearest comparable product.
Debit & Credit Cards +
Will I receive new debit and/or credit card account number? —
Yes, you’ll get a new 16-digit number for your Sunward credit and debit cards. Be sure to update your saved card information with merchants and bill-pay services to avoid any missed payments. Within the Sunward online banking app you will also be able to push your new cards to your digital wallet. Your new card(s) will arrive the last week of February and can be activated beginning March 1, 2025.
Will my Mountain America debit card continue to work after the acquisition? +
No, your Mountain America debit and credit cards will stop working after February 28, 2025. You will get your new Sunward Mastercard® debit card in the mail the last week of February 2025. If you have a Mountain America credit card you will receive a new Sunward Visa credit card via mail as well. You will need to activate your new Sunward cards on or after March 1, 2025. After your new Sunward cards have been activated, be sure to update your saved card information with merchants and bill-pay services to avoid any missed payments.
What if I don’t receive my new Sunward debit and/or credit card in the mail? +
If your card hasn’t arrived by February 28, 2025, visit any Sunward branch for an instant-issue card. Find Locations.
Are Sunward debit and credit cards contactless? +
Yes! All Sunward credit and debit cards offer contactless payment options, with the exception of the Sunward Business debit card.
I had a MyExpress Debit Card with Mountain America. Will my new card from Sunward be similar? +
Instead of a MyExpress card, you will receive a new Sunward debit card associated with a checking account. Sunward does not offer prepaid debit cards and your new Sunward debit card will function as a regular debit card. Can I request a credit limit increase on my new Sunward credit card? +
Yes, once you are a Sunward member, you can request a credit limit increase. Stop by any Sunward branch to learn more.
Will the rewards on my credit card change? +
Yes. All Mountain America Credit Union credit cards will be converted to a Sunward credit card, which feature different rewards for some card holders. If your credit line is under $5,000 you will receive the Sunward Low Rate Platinum card. If your credit line is $5,000 or greater, you will receive the Sunward Visa Signature card with a 1.5% cash rebate. Learn more about Sunward credit cards.
Will the rates and fees on my Mountain America Credit Union credit card change? +
Your current rates and fees will carry forward to your Sunward credit card.
Will my payment due date change on my new Sunward credit card? +
Yes, your new Sunward credit card payment due date will be the 23rd of each month, beginning April 23, 2025.
Where should I send my credit card payment beginning March 1, 2025? +
After March 1, 2025, send all credit card payments to Sunward at the following address:

Bill Pay, Direct Deposits, Automatic Deposits & Transfers +
Will I need to set up my Bill Pay payments again in Sunward online banking? —
Yes. If you have set up Bill Pay within the Mountain America online banking system, you will need to re-establish the payments within the Sunward online banking system. Please take note of your current Bill Pay payments on or before February 28, 2025 so you can easily recreate them in Sunward online banking starting March 2, 2025.
Do I need to update my direct deposit(s) from my employer or government benefit and auto withdrawals? +
Yes, you need to contact your employer and update your payroll deposit and any other direct deposits you receive. If you have auto withdrawals from your account, you need to update those payments with your new routing number (307083911) and account number. The new account number will accept transactions beginning March 2, 2025.
In my Mountain America account, I had it set up to automatically transfer some money from my checking to my savings account whenever I got paid. Will I need to reestablish my automated transfers I had between my accounts? +
While some of the internal transfer instructions will carry over to your new Sunward account, you should review and update these transfers if needed to ensure the transfer instructions are operating as you desired. You will be able to see and edit any such recurring transfers within the Sunward online banking portal or within our mobile banking app from March 2, 2025.
Online & Mobile Banking +
How and when can I enroll in the Sunward online banking system? —
If you are already enrolled in Mountain America Credit Union online banking, you will automatically be enrolled into Sunward online banking. You will be able to access your accounts in the Sunward online banking and mobile app starting March 2, 2025.
Will I need a new username and password to login to the Sunward online banking system? +
In most cases your username will remain the same, however, you will need to create a new password. This can be done the first time you access the Sunward online banking system.
In a few cases Mountain America members will not be able to keep their existing Mountain America online banking username because that username is already in use by another user at Sunward. In these instances, Sunward will be reaching out to the affected members to provide them a new username for Sunward’s online and mobile banking.
For those who are already both Mountain America and Sunward members, as of March 2, you will be able to access both your existing Sunward accounts and your accounts transitioning from Mountain America via your current Sunward online banking login.
If I have more than one account, will I still need a different username to access each account in Sunward online banking? +
At Sunward, online banking users can access all their accounts with a single username. If you have more than one username for your Mountain America accounts, only the username for your primary account (typically your checking account) will be kept, and you will have access to all your accounts when you log in with that username.
Does Sunward offer a way to send and receive money digitally? +

Will I still be able to deposit checks through the Sunward mobile banking app? +
Yes. You can deposit checks using our mobile app. Learn more at gosunward.org/mobile-deposit .
Will my transfers in my Mountain America Credit Union online banking appear in the Sunward online banking system? +
Yes, internal and external account linkages and transfers that were set up in Mountain America online banking will be migrated with your online banking profile. Transfers set up outside of online banking or with an external financial institution will not be migrated. Please review your transfers when you log into Sunward online banking for the first time to ensure everything is accurate.
Will I still be able to log into the Mountain America Credit Union online banking system after March 1, 2025? +
No. After your membership and accounts transfer to Sunward on March 1, 2025, you will not have access to Mountain America online banking or bill pay services. For all account information through February 28, please contact the Mountain America service center at 800-748-4302 and ask for information regarding your account prior to the transition to Sunward.
Loans & Mortgages +
How will my loans, mortgages, and credit cards be impacted? —
Sunward will honor your current interest rate and payment terms for any converted Mountain America Credit Union loan. This includes mortgages, home equity loans, auto loans, and personal consumer loans.
How can I access my loans after the transfer to Sunward? +
You can access your former Mountain America Mortgage Loan via the Sunward online banking system, the Sunward mobile banking app, via a call to our Contact Center, and at any Sunward branch.
Can I refinance with Sunward? +
Yes! Refinancing will be available. After the transition, contact us to discuss your options.
ATMs & Branch Access +
Will I be able to use ATMs at Sunward branches without a fee? —
Yes! Sunward members can use CU Anytime ATMs surcharge-free. This network has over 30,000 ATMs, including many at stores like 7-Eleven and Costco. Use our locator at gosunward.org/locations to find an ATM near you.
Can I make deposits at ATMs? +
Yes, you can deposit cash or checks at ATMs that accept deposits. Use our locator at gosunward.org/locations to find one near you.
When will I be able to visit any Sunward branch? +
Starting Monday, March 3, 2025, you will have access to all Sunward branches. However, the two former Mountain America branches will be converted to Sunward branches and will be open from Tuesday, March 4, 2025. Visit gosunward.org/locations to find our branch hours.
