Josh (:03 – :30): Right now, we’re standing in the middle of The Senary by Allaso. It’s a 209-unit multifamily project in the middle of Journal Center. This project represents a $60 million investment into the Journal Center area. It’s an exciting transformation of this community to have a live-work-play aspect to it, so we couldn’t more excited about delivering this product and having people living here and engaging in the businesses and walking to work and taking advantage of this beautiful place that we’re in.
Rajen (:32 – 1:08): So Sunward is all about the one-size-fits-one model. What that looks like is when a business like Titan comes to us and asks for a loan, we’re not just giving them one-size-fits-all funding. We’re actually creating an entire process that’s tailored to their needs, and we walk them through the entire process. After that, we know that life events happen. We know that the economy changes. So, during construction, when there are hiccups inevitably, we get creative, and we partner with them to actually make sure that this project happens. Because we know that when they’re successful, and they add housing, we’re successful, and the entire community thrives.
Josh (1:10 – 1:26): When The Senary by Allaso was looking for its construction debt, we were really challenged with high interest rates and high inflation, and we didn’t know if we were going to be able to capitalize this deal. But Sunward came through with lots of flexible options and gave us a path forward, and without them we wouldn’t have been able to do this deal.
Rajen (1:27 – 1:45): You know, one of the reasons that Sunward really likes partnering with businesses like Titan, and with Titan, is we know that we speak the same language. We have the Courtyard by Marriott that we worked together with in the past just a couple hundred feet from here. And, when we partner with businesses like Titan, we get to see the actual economic impact that occurs.
Josh (1:45 – 1:53): And it gets to our whole housing crisis in New Mexico. These projects are delivering much-needed housing to New Mexicans, and we couldn’t be more excited about the future ahead.
Rajen (1:56 – 2:10): People can thrive in this environment. Professionals can live here. They can go to a restaurant across the street, take their dog for a walk, have their financial institution in their backyard. It really just allows Sunward to be the economic engine of the Southwest.
New Mexico faces a housing deficit.
Housing experts have estimated that the state is short by tens of thousands of units. A 2025 housing needs assessment published by Housing New Mexico notes that single-family detached homes make up 65.7% of New Mexico's housing stock while multifamily units account for just 15.5%—over 10% shy of the national average.
That's why Sunward prioritizes delivering housing in Albuquerque and across the Southwest. We believe housing is not only a driver of economic growth but a way to empower individuals and inspire confidence, helping build bridges and create pathways to opportunity.
How do we help deliver housing? By forming strong partnerships that advance our vision to become the economic engine of the Southwest. The Sunward commercial lending team recently supported Titan Development in building The Senary by Allaso, a 209-unit multifamily complex in Albuquerque's Journal Center area — a growing, mixed-use district in the north part of the city.
This $60 million investment in The Senary by Allaso was about more than constructing another apartment complex. It was an investment in a modern, sustainable community that offers residents a live-work-play lifestyle in the heart of a burgeoning professional district.
Titan Development had initially been challenged by high interest rates and high inflation when looking to finance the deal, according to Josh Rogers, a partner at Titan Development.
“Sunward came through with lots of flexible options and gave us a path forward,” Rogers shared. “Without them, we wouldn't have been able to do this deal.”
The sort of flexibility Rogers described exemplifies Sunward's tailored commercial financing model.
“Sunward is all about the one-size-fits-one model,” said Rajen Bowman, a Sunward commercial lender. “When a business comes to us, we're not just giving them one-size-fits-all funding. We're creating an entire process that's tailored to their needs, and we walk them through the entire process.”
“When we partner with businesses like Titan, we get to see the actual economic impact that occurs,” Bowman added.
Overall, The Senary by Allaso and other housing projects financed by Sunward represent a meaningful investment in communities that empower individuals and businesses alike.
“These projects are delivering much-needed housing to New Mexicans,” said Rogers. “We couldn't be more excited about the future ahead.”
