ALBUQUERQUE, NEW MEXICO, February 26, 2026 – Sunward Federal Credit Union announced today that it will open a new branch on Albuquerque’s West Side this fall.
The new branch, located at 5760 St. Josephs Dr. near Ladera Drive and Coors Boulevard, marks the credit union’s 11th branch in Albuquerque and 17th overall, joining recent expansion into Durango, Colorado, and Albuquerque’s South Valley.
The new Ladera branch is set to bring convenience and personalized banking solutions to the West side of Albuquerque, an area that has quickly grown with new housing developments and retail establishments.
Sunward’s products maximize value for members, including families and businesses, with high-yield dividend rates, Power Money Market accounts to empower new investors, and Sunward+, a rewards program that makes financial milestones and everyday banking more affordable. As the top credit union lender in the state, Sunward also offers competitive mortgages, including fixed-rate options with no Private Mortgage Insurance (PMI) and low down payments, increasing housing opportunities for New Mexicans.
Currently under construction, the nearly 3,500 square foot branch will feature an open, modern layout to invite connection while also including areas that maintain privacy. This intentional, award-winning branch design has seen success across recent openings in Durango and the South Valley.
“This branch—like everything we do at Sunward— is built to meet members where they are,” said Brenda Arroyo, Sunward’s Ladera Branch Manager. “With the West side of town expanding at such an incredible rate, we want to keep pace and make sure we’re accessible to everyone who can benefit from what we have to offer.”
Branch construction is set to complete in late summer of 2026 with operations expected to begin in September. More details of a grand opening and ribbon-cutting celebration to be announced soon.
